One payment, one attempt

The English placement assessment by Daniel Martin costs $5 USD per attempt. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. Each purchase belongs to the signed-in learner account. There are no free retakes: another attempt requires another $5 purchase. Textbooks and course applications are not included.

What your purchase includes

The assessment covers reading, language use, and writing, with up to three sections. Allow approximately 20–60 minutes. Grading provides a provisional course recommendation and, when sufficient evidence supports a level, a printable newspaper-style certificate bearing your full name and estimated A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, or C2 level. Uncertain or insufficient responses may require human review before a certificate can be issued. No particular level is guaranteed. This is not official CEFR certification; listening and speaking are not assessed.

Saved progress and technical problems

Use “Save progress” before leaving a section. You can return to the same account and resume that attempt without another payment. Submitted sections cannot be edited or restarted. If grading is delayed, your submitted answers remain saved. Do not buy another test to fix a missing result.

For help, email support@esl4life.com from your account email. Include your order or attempt number and a description of the problem. Never email passwords, full card numbers, or security codes. We will investigate access and grading failures and help recover the same attempt where possible.

Refund requests

Contact us about duplicate charges, an unused purchase you wish to cancel, or a technical problem that prevents us from providing the assessment. If we cannot provide the purchased service because of a confirmed technical failure, we will refund that purchase. Approved refunds are returned through the original payment method; the payment provider and your bank determine when they appear. Refunding a purchase removes access associated with that order.

A lower-than-expected score does not by itself qualify for a refund or free retake. You can request a review of the existing result without purchasing another test. This policy does not limit rights that apply under consumer law.

Your name and your work

Check your full name before starting. Work independently without AI, dictionaries, or translation tools. You may invent details in writing tasks and should avoid private information. Read the Privacy Policy before submitting writing for AI-assisted grading.
